Blue and Tan Dachshund
A Blue Dachshund? Really?
The Blue Dachshund is a dilution of a black and tan Dachshund. They are grey in color with tan points. They do not have any black on the body. A Blue and Tan Dachshund has bluish colored nose, nails and paw pads. Blue and Tan is also a recessive color. Meaning that both parents must either show or carry it to produce Blue Dachshund puppies.
Blue and Tan Dachshunds come in Patterns, too!
Blue Dapple Dachshunds are lovely in ways you can’t imagine till you see one. Ross is my Blue and Tan Dachshund in the dapple pattern. I have loved him so much. Just watching him play and seeing the stunning colors in the sunshine. It’s so pretty. Blue and Tan Dapples are often confused with Black and Tan (silver) dapples. It can be hard to distinguish between the two at an early age, but a simple rule of thumb..if there is black then it’s black!
The Brindles in this color usually show their brindle striping in the tan points and because there are no black hairs, it is not possible to have a sable. I still find this color and it’s genetics very intriquing. I have experimented with different bloodlines, patterns and coat types through the years to try to eliminate Allopecia. Just like any reputable Breeder, we strive for the BEST puppies possible.
As much as I love the others, I will always favor the Blue Piebald Dachshund. Blue and Tan Piebald Dachshunds are so flashy to me. Surely, it is the contrast of the gun metal grey color against the white that sets them off like that. I will always love them and strive to have blue dachshund puppies from time to time to share with my wonderful customers.
